In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, it is important that people have the resources to aid them. Here are resources for Bronx residents.

POWER OUTAGES

Downed power lines are a grave danger. Do not approach them or try to walk over or around them. Report them immediately to Con Edison. Please also report power outages and service problems to ConEd as well. To contact ConEd, either call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633) or contact them by computer or mobile device at www.conEd.com.

In addition, important information also will be posted on the company’s Web site, www.conEd.com.

DOWNED TREES

Residents can call 311 or log on to www.nyc.gov/apps/311 to report downed trees. If the tree is touching wires, please also report the situation to ConEd and stay away from the tree and wires.

FEDERAL DISASTER RELIEF FOR HOMEOWNERS AND BUSINESSES

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has a variety of disaster relief programs available for families and businesses affected by the storm. Individuals and businesses can find out about the programs and apply for help via disasterassistance.gov, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362). Their mobile website at m.fema.gov is also available to residents.
