  5. 17 Democratic U.S. senators or senators-elect expressed their support for delaying the harmful medical device tax included as part of the President's health care reform.

Earlier this year, I managed debate on the floor when the House passed legislation to repeal the tax entirely. The bill, HR 436, passed with bipartisan support.

  12. Honored to be joining the House Ways and Means Committee for the 113th Congress!
  13. I do not support the President and the Senate’s tax gimmicks, which do not address many of the significant issues facing our nation. They must get serious about discussing spending cuts and entitlement reform instead of playing political games revolving solely around revenues. This isn’t about Republicans or Democrats winning, it is about the American people winning – which will not happen if taxes are raised on American families and job creators.
  14. Honored this morning to sign cards for our troops, as well as tape a holiday and Christmas greeting that will be broadcast to them.

  15. Increasing tax rates isn't the answer. Spending cuts and entitlement reform must be priorities.
