Pitts Reappointed to Chair Health Subcommittee

Nov 28, 2012 Issues: Health Care

This afternoon, Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) was reappointed to serve another two years as the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee. This will be Pitts’ second term as chairman.

Congressman Pitts’ statement follows:

“I’m honored to lead the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee in the next Congress. For two years now, I’ve worked to make health care more affordable and more available for all Americans and to support job growth in critical medical industries.

“The Subcommittee has focused on revealing the many shortcomings of the President’s health law. We will continue to speak up as tens of thousands of pages of new regulations make health care more complex and more expensive.

“I’ve also led the subcommittee to some notable bipartisan successes in the last two years. Earlier this year, the President signed bipartisan legislation reforming Food and Drug Administration reviews of new drugs and medical devices. I’ve also worked closely with my Democratic counterpart on the Subcommittee to reauthorize grants for education at children’s hospitals.

“I’d like to thank full committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and all of my Republican colleagues on Energy and Commerce for their vote of confidence.”
