Rogers Meets with Gen. Dunwoody on Anniston Army Depot Future

(WASHINGTON, DC)—Congressman Mike Rogers visited today with U.S. Army Materiel Command Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody during the meeting of the Congressional Depot Caucus.

The Congressional Depot Caucus is made up of 73 members of the U.S. House of Representatives including members who have depots in their congressional districts along with armories and maintenance facilities.  The caucus gives members a chance to discuss concerns facing the depots including workload and workforce issues.

“I am pleased to be a part of this group so we can come together and talk candidly about the future of our depots and how they can best support our warfighters,” Rogers said.

Gen. Dunwoody was in attendance at the event and Rogers said he was able to spend some time with her discussing his concerns regarding the Anniston Army Depot. He says he also plans future meetings with Dunwoody to continue his conversations about ANAD.

“The Anniston Army Depot is the best, most efficient facility of its kind within the Defense Department and absolutely vital to the readiness and effectiveness of our brave warfighters. It is also the economic engine for Calhoun County and Northeast Alabama.

“I am pleased to have had the opportunity to meet with Gen. Dunwoody and the entire Depot Caucus, and look forward to helping ensure ANAD remains a strong and critical component in our nation’s defense,” Rogers added.

Rogers is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee.
