Each year, we recognize Veterans Day to signify the end of World War I, “the Great War”, also known as “the war to end all wars”.
Over the decades we have learned that WWI wasn’t the war to end all wars. Much blood and treasure has been spent defending freedom and fighting tyranny and depression.
Which gives us even greater reason to pause and continue to observe the true purpose of Veterans Da...y: to celebrate and honor generations of American veterans – from every conflict - for their willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
As your Congressman, I’ve been privileged to participate in ceremonies honoring veterans each Veterans Day, and throughout the year.
I remain committed to the same principles my fellow veterans have spent their life service in support of. The same principles my grandfather fought for as a Marine in WWII, serving at Guadalcanal, Ryukyu, and Okinawa. The same principles I defended with my brothers in arms in the Persian Gulf War.
That is a commitment to the common defense of our nation, and to her people's continued freedom to live and work and worship as we see fit.
This Veterans Day, I ask you to join me in thanking a veteran, and in renewing your commitment to these principles they have fought so hard to defend.
May God continue to Bless America,
Steven M. Palazzo
