Thanksgiving

Washington, Nov 21 -

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude for the blessings in your life. It’s about spending time with your family and loved ones. It’s about giving back and giving thanks.

As Americans, we have so many blessings to give thanks for. We live in a free country and, despite our differences, all wish for a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. We’re blessed with a peaceful governing process where citizens are given the privilege of electing their leaders to serve them; we’re fortunate to have the power to make decisions based on our belief of what is best for our families; and we’re each given a chance to achieve the American dream.

None of these freedoms would be possible without our men and women in the Armed Forces. Every Thanksgiving, I say a special prayer for the brave soldiers who are serving our nation overseas. They cannot be with their families and friends here in the States, but they should be in our thoughts and prayers.

In the coming months our nation will face many challenges together, but America will prevail. Let us all take time this Thanksgiving holiday to pause for a moment, put politics aside and remember how in the midst of building a new nation, the Pilgrims gave thanks. While we have some nation building to do of our own, we have so much to be thankful for.
