Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement:

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims of yesterday’s attack on our Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which took the lives of four Americans, including US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens. This heinous attack is yet another reminder that violent religious extremism continues to pose real threats to our individual and national security. My constituents and our nation mourn the loss of Ambassador Stevens and implore the Libyan Government to bring these barbaric murderers to justice.
