Washington, DC – On Thursday June 2, 2011, representatives of the New Jersey State Association of Letter Carriers met with Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) in Washington, DC to thank him for his long record of supporting New Jersey’s Letter Carriers. They discussed the need for Congress to correct flaws in the Postal Service retirement system and their support for the continuation of the current six day mail schedule, both of which are backed by Congressman Rothman. The Letter Carriers also thanked Congressman Rothman for his leadership in cosponsoring H.R. 1351, which would correct an accounting error that has overcharged the Postal Service by billions of dollars for payments into the Civil Retirement System and for cosponsoring House Resolution 137 which supports the continuation of the 6-day mail delivery service.
