The bridge was renamed in honor of the former Mayor Cumberland, Nicey Hazen, who championed the project starting in 1998. Nicey Hazen Bridge - The new Nicey Hazen Bridge in Cumberland replaces the old Billips Avenue bridge as part of a $31.6 Million Flood Damage Reduction Project for the City of Cumberland.
