SITREP - November 4th, 2012

I don’t have a great deal to report this week – I’m watching the developments following the storm in the Northeast and also the latest information coming out about Benghazi.  I imagine you are as well.

This week, I really just wanted to take a minute to reflect on the importance of what we are going to do on Tuesday.  Even in today’s world, there are far too many people living in countries out there who don’t enjoy the freedom that we have to choose our own leaders.  Our Founding Fathers risked everything, including their families, to make that choice possible for us.  And in the years since, generations of brave Americans have stood up and put themselves on the line to protect our freedom and our way of life.

It is a solemn responsibility that we have to make good on those sacrifices and to exercise our rights as citizens.  The politics of it all can get frustrating at times, but at the end of the day, it is truly a remarkable thing that so much power can pass so peacefully time and again according to the rule of law and the will of the people.

May God Bless this great nation of ours and the troops who keep us safe. I hope you all have a great weekend and please keep the victims of Hurricane Sandy in your thoughts and prayers.  An awful lot of people in our area have family living there.

Sincerely,

Rich Nugent

Member of Congress
