Rich Applauds House Move to Repeal Medicare Rationing Board

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Following House passage of the PATH Act, Rep. Rich Nugent (FL-05) issued the following statement:

“I represent 250,000 seniors.  My job is to go to bat for them each and every day that I’m in Washington and the cases don’t get much clearer than this.  The IPAB rationing board that was set up under the President’s healthcare law is a serious threat to seniors’ access to care at a time when they need that care the most.  The healthcare law gives fifteen unelected bureaucrats the power to decide what treatments seniors will be allowed to receive. As if that weren’t bad enough, the law ensured that no more than seven of the fifteen would be healthcare practitioners.  That means no matter the question, the bean counters always win.  If we allowed IPAB to go forward, we would be taking a dangerous step towards breaking the promise this country made to senior citizens.  Seniors won’t stand for it and neither will I."
