Rep. Johnson receives 100% on civil rights voting record for 112th Congress

Georgia Congressman honored by Civil & Human Rights group

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights recently announced that U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) earned a 100 percent civil rights voting record for the 112th Congress from their organization, a coalition charged by its diverse membership to promote and protect the rights of all people in the United States.

“I am honored to receive this honor from the Leadership Conference,” said Rep. Johnson. “When I vote in Washington, I vote for constituents, not special interest groups or corporations. While we have made great progress in civil and human rights, we have more work to do to ensure everyone benefits from the open and just society America aspires to be.”

The Leadership Conference’s Voting Record recorded Congressional support for, or opposition to, bills related to important civil rights protections, the budget, immigration and a plethora of other issues.

The Leadership Conference is comprised of more than 200 national organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD),
Asian American Justice Center (AAJC), Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Immigration Equality, League of Women Voters of The United States (LWV), NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF), National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) and National Senior Citizens Law Center.
