STATEMENT OF CONGRESSMAN TIM HOLDEN ON THE PAYROLL TAX EXTENSION

I am pleased that congressional leadership finally came to an agreement and passed the payroll tax extension. With passage of this bill, over 160 million working Americans will continue to receive the payroll tax cut, which will keep roughly $1,000 a year in their paychecks. This money will not only help these Americans and their families, but will allow for our economy to continue its improvement. It would have been a travesty if we failed to extend this tax cut for the working class while protecting tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.
