Hartzler to serve on House Budget Committee

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has been chosen to serve on the House Budget Committee - the committee primarily responsible for developing the annual budget resolution that sets the aggregate levels of spending, revenue, the deficit or surplus, and public debt expected to occur in any fiscal year.

“I am pleased to welcome Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler to the House Budget Committee,” said Budget Committee Chairman Ryan. “In the short time she has been in Congress, Vicky has demonstrated a firm commitment to addressing Washington’s runaway spending. The Committee is fortunate to have a small business owner who has signed the front of the check as well as the back of it. I look forward to working with her to put the brakes on the irresponsible spending that is leading to broken promises and less economic opportunity.”

"As a deficit hawk who is committed to reining in our runaway federal spending, I am honored to serve on the House Budget Committee and thank Chairman Ryan for the opportunity," said Hartzler upon being informed of the appointment. "I will bring to the table the common sense ideas that I have discussed in conversations with the good citizens of Missouri's Fourth Congressional District. They realize we cannot continue on our country’s current path of uncontrolled spending. They know it is disgraceful to leave our children and grandchildren with mountains of debt that can never be repaid. I look forward to working with Chairman Ryan and the Committee to change the trajectory and get our country headed back in the right direction."

Vicky Hartzler, who represents Missouri's Fourth District in Congress, begins her new committee assignment in January. She continues to serve on the House Agriculture Committee and House Armed Services Committee.
