I am honored to represent the 4th Congressional District of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Appropriations

As your representative in Congress, I am dedicated to ensuring your priorities are addressed in the final budget.

Clean Energy

As your representative in Congress, I have always supported legislative efforts that protect our environment, invigorate our workforce, help American families, and ensure our nation's prosperity.

Education

As your Representative in Congress, I have worked consistently to improve and increase funding for public education and new school construction.

Financial Services

I have worked to restore economic stability, help homeowners facing foreclosure, protect consumers, protect taxpayers, and strengthen regulations for the financial institutions whose risky behavior contributed to the economic collapse in 2008.

I am proud to serve as the Chairman of the Immigration Task Force of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and I have previously also served on the Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration and as the Chair of the Immigration Task Force of the Democratic Caucus.

Shedding Light on Puerto Rico's Gasoducto Project

On April 6, 2011, I sent Freedom of Information Act requests to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency for any and all information related to the Via Verde or Gasoducto project in Puerto Rico.
