WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH) was presented with the RetireSafe 2012 “Standing Up for Seniors” Award this morning in recognition of his policy choices and votes in Congress on behalf of seniors.  RetireSafe is a national seniors advocacy organization that focuses on policies regarding Social Security, Medicare, health and financial well being.  Gibbs issued the following statement upon receiving today’s award:

“It is an honor to have been chosen to receive this year’s “Standing Up for Seniors” Award,” Gibbs said. “Healthcare is on the forefront of the central issues facing our country today, and I am working very hard to ensure that our senior citizens do not suffer from the healthcare policies coming out of Washington.

“The American healthcare system is desperate for reform.  Congress needs to start over and adopt common sense initiatives that would encourage patients to be in control of their healthcare, not add trillions of dollars in new government spending we cannot afford under Obamacare.”
