  1. Across our district and local area we have unfortunately seen a number of heartbreaking incidents that took the lives of local students and young adults far too soon. From car accidents and tragedies here at home to a brave Marine losing his life in Afghanistan, our area has responded by coming together to support the families and friends of loved ones lost in ways that show the strength of our communities. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected, and it is a reminder during this holiday season to truly treasure and appreciate all of those we are blessed to have in our lives.

I know of no one who voted for Grover Norquist FOR ANYTHING! We expect you to be loyal to us, not to him. Please vote to continue the tax cuts for the middle class ASAP. Step out Mr. Gibson! Be a leader, not just a follower of your party's leadership!

Please do not resign the Norquist Pledge. Please do whatever is best for the country at any given time.

Taking any Oath other than the Oath of Office reflects poorly upon our elected officials.

Congressman Gibson - I respectfully request that you support and sign the discharge petition to bring the middle class tax cuts bill the Senate passed back in July to the House floor, as presented by the Minority Leader today. There is absolutely no reason to hold hostage the continuation of the tax cuts for middle class Americans while the issues of spending cuts, tax reform, and tax increases for those making more than $250,000 are discussed. Please do not be a willing participant in the obstruction tactics being employed by the Republican Congress. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME POSTING THIS, BUT MY FIRST POST APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REMOVED. ARE YOU CENSORING YOUR CONSITUENTS??

  3. Here's a story from WNYT NewsChannel 13 tonight on negotiations on the "fiscal cliff." As I mention in the interview, I believe that the Cooper-LaTourette bipartisan budget offers a solution both parties can support. Inspired by the Presid...
ent's Deficit Reduction Commission, Simpson-Bowles, this potential grand agreement is pro-growth and fiscally responsible and ensures we avoid the "fiscal cliff." I was one of a group of 38 bipartisan members who voted this budget earlier this year. It's time for both parties to listen to the American people and get something substantive and constructive done.

  4. Interesting column about Senator Marco Rubio's comments at the Jack Kemp Foundation’s Leadership Award Dinner earlier this week. Would welcome your thoughts.
  5. I want you to understand how much the voters want to change the current tax structure. I firmly believe that returning to higher tax rates for those making $250,000 or more is absolutely necessary. And so must others, given the broad support President Obama received in the recent election. Lowering taxes on the wealthy has not benefited our nation’s economy. Although returning the tax burde...
n to the way it was when George W. Bush took office would help, I’d really like to see it return to the way it was when Reagan was in office.

Thank you for listening to me: someone struggling to stay in the middle class.

Check out this article on Grover Norquist and his tax pledge. Turns out this guy thinks he gets to decide what is a "tax" and what's not. Seems pretty ridiculous to me. Has he ever even been to Upstate New York? This should be a matter between us and our representative - the one we get to choose, through democratic elections. After reading this, I'm glad Gibson didn't re-sign the tax pledge.

Vote NO on the presidents bill. Until they come to the table and negotiate real and meaningful spending cuts nothing should pass. You were re elected for this purpose
  9. Instead of tax increases I wonder anyone has taken a serious look at the Mack Penny plan, proposed by Connie Mack of Florida? Its not drachonian cuts, you cut one penny of every dollar you spend, and no longer have these dramatic budget increases every year built into the budget, within 8 years or less you have a balanced budget? Why arent we looking at this more seriously? We could cut a penny of every dollar and still fund the millitary fully, still ensure those who need the safety net have it and do not suffer. Why is this not being looked at more seriously? Best of all no new taxes on anyone in a struggling economy.
  10. All - As you know, because of the census, the geographic lines for congressional districts in New York State will be different. Our current 20th district becomes the 19th Congressional District, containing a different makeup of counties. I know this has caused a lot of questions and concerns among constituents.

To be clear, all of our current district offices will be open through the end of 201...
2, continuing to serve all 20th district constituents. In early January 2013, we will be closing some of our existing offices and opening new ones to serve the new 19th District. More information about locations will be released as details are finalized.

For those of you who wish to email our office through our website, the email form will only accept 20th District zip codes for constituent mail through January. After that point, it will switch to the 19th. If you wish to register your views before then, please feel free to call one of our offices directly.

  11. Thanksgiving provides us with the opportunity to come together with family and friends, reflect on our many blessings, and give thanks. From our home to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.

Our prayers are also with our men and women of the military deployed around the world and with their families who don't have the opportunity to spend this holiday with their loved one. We wish them mission success and a safe return home soon.
