As a Member of the United States House of Representatives, I am pleased to announce the 2012 Congressional Art Competition. This contest is a significant opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent of high school students of Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
The 2012 Congressional Art Competition will be open to all high school students residing in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District. Each of the eleven counties within the Fourth District will select a winner and alternates who will be recognized. A district winner will be chosen from the eleven county winners.
The work of art that is selected as the district winner will be displayed at the U. S. Capitol for one year, along with the district winners from across the United States. This is a remarkable opportunity, as thousands of individuals will pass by this display daily.
The district winner will be eligible for a scholarship and 2 airfare tickets to visit the display of artwork in the U. S. Capitol. In addition, our office would be happy to arrange a tour of our nation’s Capitol and look forward to meeting with the winner.
Please contact Susan Ohl in the Lima office at 419-999-6455 for more information regarding this contest.
