Promote Conservation and Efficiency
Congressman Dreier believes reducing our dependence on fossil fuels is critical to achieving energy security. Innovations in efficiency and conservation will lower energy costs for consumers, and alleviate air pollution in our region. To advance energy conservation and efficiency efforts, Congressman Dreier supports:
- Advanced technology vehicles. Congressman Dreier voted for the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which authorized incentives for purchasing fuel-efficient and advanced technology vehicles, such as hybrids, flex-fuel and compressed natural gas (CNG). For information about these incentives, you may visit www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/vehicles.
- Advanced battery and fuel cell technology. Congressman Dreier supports funding for research and development of advanced battery and fuel cell technology with the goal of lowering costs and increasing the range and performance of hydrogen and electric vehicles. These initiatives will help make these vehicles a more feasible option for consumers.
- Energy efficiency. Congressman Dreier supports initiatives to provide incentives for businesses and homeowners who improve energy efficiency. Additionally, the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which Congressman Dreier supported, authorized tax credits for energy efficient home improvements; new energy efficient commercial building; and for manufacturing efficient appliances, such as refrigerators and washing machines.
