The men and women who have served in our armed forces have made great sacrifices for our country, our freedom, our very way of life. Throughout my time in Congress, I have worked with my colleagues in the House of Representatives, as well as constituents in Illinois, to ensure that our veterans are not forgotten. The 15th District of Illinois has a large number of veterans ranging from those who served in World War Two to Vietnam to those who have recently served in missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is important to remember that all veterans have earned our appreciation and deserve to be taken care of. Programs through the Department of Veterans Affairs provide healthcare services, education assistance, and pensions for so many of these heroes. As a Member of Congress, I support veteran’s benefits and will ensure that American veterans are not forgotten and are taken care of for long after their service to our country is over.
