To file a complaint about an unsafe product or about a company selling an unsafe product, please contact the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) via their toll-free consumer hotline at 800-638-2772. You may also call this hotline to obtain product safety and other agency information. Complaints may also be filed through the CPSC website.

What do I do if I need to file a complaint about a financial institution?
You may wish to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about a particular company or organization by visiting the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection website.

Please note that the FTC does not resolve individual consumer problems. However, your complaint helps the FTC investigate fraud, and may ultimately lead to further action by law enforcement.

Is it possible to file a complaint about a doctor or healthcare provider?
Yes you can file a complaint about a doctor or healthcare provider. Examples of such complaints may include denial of insurance benefits, delayed payment on claims, or denial of coverage for emergency services. Please contact the office of the Illinois Attorney General to file a Complaint Form about a doctor or healthcare provider. You may also contact them by phone at (877) 305-5145.

As this agency falls under the jurisdiction of the State of Illinois and not the federal government, you may wish to contact your State Representative for further information and assistance.

What if I’m having a problem with my insurance company?
Please note that as a Member of Congress, I am unable to directly intervene in disputes between a constituent and their insurance provider. However, my staff and I would be happy to assist you in determining what state or federal government entity has oversight authority over your insurance company and will provide you the necessary contact information so that your complaint can be promptly submitted and reviewed by the appropriate officials. I would recommend contacting my Champaign Office to speak to a member of my staff regarding the difficulties you may be experiencing.

How can I file a complaint about a judge or attorney?
A complaint against an attorney can be made with the State of Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board which investigates allegations of judicial misconduct. For more information, please visit the State of Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board website. Please note that due to Congressional regulations, I am unable to directly intervene in legal matters or dispense legal advice.
