White House Tour Information
1. Tours are always subject to last minute cancellation (i.e., due to official events of the President and the First Lady, such as bill signings, press conferences, etc.). Please call the Visitors Office at (202) 456-7041 if you have any questions.
2. Group tours of the White House are scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, between 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for parties of ten or more people. As per White House policy, tour requests are granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Requests filed up to 6 months in advance stand a better chance of being granted. The White House WILL NOT grant any requests made less than ONE MONTH prior to your visit.
3. All attendees are required to submit their name, date of birth, country of citizenship, social security number or passport number if not a US citizen. You will receive an email requesting the security information through a secure form after you submit the request.
4. The White House distributes confirmations 2-3 weeks prior to the requested dates.
5. In an effort to provide White House tours to as many groups as possible from across the country, the White House has implemented a policy that limits the number of approved tours per group per year. Effective immediately, groups are eligible to receive only TWO tours per calendar year. This is not a restriction on the number of requests from a particular office, but rather on the requesting group. Specifically, the requesting entity or group contact is limited to two tours (i.e., a professor may request one tour for his/her spring semester students and one for his/her fall semester students in one calendar year). For groups that are part of a larger organization (i.e. a scout troop), please note that it is the particular troop that is limited to two tours a year, and not the national entity.
6. Groups should enter the White House complex from the south side of the East Executive Ave near the Southeast Gate. Groups arriving by bus should instruct their driver to drop them off at the southwest corner of 15th and E streets where they will be met by a uniformed National Park Service Ranger.
7. Groups should arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled tour time. Late arrivals may not be accommodated. 8. All guests 15 years of age or older will be required to show photo identification with information exactly matching the name previously submitted for clearance. Individuals whose identification does not exactly match the name or data cleared for entry may be denied admittance.
9. Additions to groups may not be made after the request has been submitted to the White House.
10. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to, the following: handbags, bookbags, backpacks, purses, food and beverages of any kind, strollers, cameras, video recorders or any type of recording device, tobacco products, personal grooming items (make up, hair brush or comb, lip or hand lotions, etc.), any pointed objects (pens, knitting needles, etc.), aerosol containers, guns, ammunition, fireworks, electric stun guns, mace, martial arts weapons, or knives of any size.
