Presidential Inauguration

RSS Feed

For more than two hundred years, America’s citizens have witnessed the Inauguration ceremonies of the President and Vice President of the United States. From the first Inauguration of George Washington in 1789, to today, as we prepare for the 57th quadrennial Presidential Inauguration, the swearing-in ceremonies represent both national renewal and continuity of leadership.

Inaugural Ceremony
A limited number of tickets to the Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony for the President of the United States, which will be held on January 21, 2013, will be distributed to each Congressional office by the Inaugural Committee in January 2013.  This is the only Inaugural event to which our office will receive tickets.

Inaugural Ceremony Tickets
Each Congressional office has been allotted fewer than 200 tickets.  To date, our office has received nearly 1,000 requests.  Due to the huge interest from constituents regarding the Inauguration ceremonies, tickets made available to our office will be distributed to constituents by a random, lottery style selection process.  If you have contacted our office requesting ticket information, your name has already been entered into the selection pool

If you wish to enter your household into the selection pool, please email us by clicking hereWe will stop accepting requests on Friday, January 4th, 2013 at 5:00PM.  Those selected will be notified on Monday, January 7th, 2013.

Please be aware of the following:
1. Any tickets available to Congressman Forbes will be for constituents of the Fourth Congressional District.  No tour company requests will be accepted.
2. We will only accept one request per household.  Multiple entries will be discarded and completely removed from the selection pool.
3. Due to the limited number of tickets, those selected will only be awarded 2 tickets.

Areas Not Requiring Tickets
Viewing the Swearing-In Ceremonies from the National Mall does not require tickets. The non-ticketed area of the National Mall begins at Fourth Street NW.

Inaugural Parade
The inaugural parade is open to the public.  A limited number of tickets are typically made available for bleacher seating through the soon-to-be-established Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC).  For more information, please visit: http://2013inaugurationparade.army.mil/.
