To assist you in planning your visit to Washington, DC, my office has compiled information on many of the tours and attractions in the nation’s capital. This summary includes the location and hours of operation of each venue, as well as the appropriate contact information. If you would like to request a tour of any of the following:

U.S. Capitol and Capitol Visitor Center:  The United States Capitol Building and the Capitol Visitor Center are typically open Monday through Saturday.  The Capitol Visitor Center, which features multiple exhibits, films, and a cafeteria, is open to the public from 8:30am to 4:30pm.  Tours of the Capitol, which originate in the Capitol Visitor Center, begin at 8:50am, with subsequent tours leaving every ten minutes.  While the Capitol Visitor Center is open until 4:30pm, the last tour of the Capitol Building begins at 3:20pm.  Constituent groups of fifteen or less may reserve a staff-led tour through Congressman Flake’s office.  Please click here arrange this tour.  To reserve a tour led by the Capitol Guide Service, get directions, review a list of items prohibited in the Capitol, or for additional information, please visit www.visitthecapitol.gov.

Supreme Court:
The United States Supreme Court building, located at One First Street, NE in Washington, DC, is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Supreme Court showcases various exhibits, as well as a film on the history of the Court. Unreserved lectures in the Courtroom are given every hour on the half hour on days the Court is not sitting, beginning at 9:30 am. The last lecture begins at 3:30 pm. The White House: All visits to the White House must be arranged through a U.S. House or Senate office. All reservations must be made at least one month prior to the desired date, while several months’ notice can significantly increase chances of securing a tour. The White House is normally open for tours Tuesday-Saturday, excluding federal holidays. Tours begin from 7:30am to 12:30pm. Please click here arrange this tour to begin the reservation process.

White House Visitor Center: We encourage you to take advantage of the White House Visitor Center, located at the southeast corner of 15th and E Streets in the Department of Commerce Building. The Center is open seven days a week from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm and features information on White House architecture, furnishings, and social events, as well as the nation’s First Families. Library of Congress: The Library of Congress offers unreserved public tours in the Great Hall of the Thomas Jefferson Building located on First Street and Independence Avenue, SE in Washington, DC. Tours are given at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30, Monday thru Friday and on Saturdays at 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30. For more information, please visit www.loc.gov/visit/hours.html.

Smithsonian Institute: The museums of the Smithsonian Institute are open daily from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Smithsonian museums include the Air and Space Museum, American History Museum, Natural History Museum, and the National Gallery of Art. The National Zoo, also part of the Smithsonian, is located at 3001 Connecticut Avenue, NW in Washington, DC. Admission is free, although parking is charged. Summer hours at the National Zoo are 6:00 am to 8:00 pm (buildings open 10:00 am to 6:00 pm). The remainder of the year the zoo is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm (buildings open 10:00 am to 4:30 pm). Holocaust Memorial Museum: The Holocaust Memorial Museum is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm daily. Admission passes are not required to enter the general museum. Timed, same-day passes – which are free – are necessary for visiting the Museum’s Permanent Exhibition and can be obtained each day at the Museum (limit of four per person) starting at 10 am or in advance by contacting Tickets.com (limit of ten per order) online at http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?orgid=2257 or by calling 1.800.400.9373. There is a small service fee for Tickets.com orders. No passes are needed for entering the Museum, visiting special exhibitions, and using the many other resources inside the Museum. The museum is located at 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, SW in Washington, DC and can be reached by calling (202) 488-0400 or on the web at www.ushmm.org.

National Building Museum: The National Building Museum is dedicated to exploring and celebrating architecture, design, engineering, construction, and urban planning. It is located at 401 F Street, NW in Washington, DC between 4th and 5th Streets. Admission is free; a $5 donation is suggested. Hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information, visit www.nbm.org or call (202) 272-2448.

International Spy Museum: The International Spy Museum is located at 800 F Street, NW. Hours vary from day to day; it is best to check the online calendar before visiting. Patrons typically spend two hours in the museum, and admission is halted two hours prior to closing time. Admission prices are as follows: $15 for adults, $14 for seniors, and $12 for children (ages 5-11). Admission for children 4 and under is free. Ford’s Theatre: Ford’s Theatre, the site of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, is located at 511 10th Street, NW. With the exception of Christmas Day, the theatre is open for public tours daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm.  All participants on the tour must obtain a timed entry pass.  The closest Metro station is Metro Center. National Archives: The National Archives, which houses the original copies of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, is located at 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW in Washington, DC. The Rotunda entrance, which includes the Exhibit Hall, is on Constitution Avenue. Fall and winter hours (Labor Day thru March 31) are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Spring hours (April 1 to the Friday before Memorial Day) are 10:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. Summer hours (Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day) are 10:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. Admission is free. Bureau of Engraving and Printing: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing offers public tours Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Tours begin every fifteen minutes. The BEP is located at 14th and C Streets, SW in Washington, DC. Tickets are not required from September thru February. During these months, simply line up at the Visitors’ Entrance on 14th Street. From March through August, free tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8:00 am at the ticket booth located on Raoul Wallenberg Place, behind the Bureau. During these months, tickets are usually distributed by 9:00 a.m. Lines may form early. For more information visit www.bep.treas.gov or call (202) 847-2330.

Arlington National Cemetery: Arlington National Cemetery is open to the public at 8 a.m. 365 days a year. The cemetery closes at 7:00 pm April thru September and at 5:00 pm October thru March. For more information, please visit www.arlingtoncemetery.org.

Mount Vernon: Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, is open seven days a week, everyday of the year.  Hours of operation vary.  Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors, $7 for children ages 6-11.  Children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge. Mount Vernon is located 16 miles south of Washington, D.C. and 8 miles south of Old Town Alexandria. For more information, including directions, please visit www.mountvernon.org.

The National Mall: Barring unusual circumstances, the National Mall is always open to the public. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the new Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Washington Monument are all located on the mall. Washington Monument: Washington Monument tours are arranged through the National Park Service (NPS). Advance reservations for the Washington Monument may be made between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM EST by calling 1-800-967-2283 or on the Internet at www.recreation.gov/tourParkDetail.do?parkId=77811&agency=NRSO. Those purchasing advance reservations will be charged a $1.50 service fee per ticket, plus a $.50 handling fee per order. Same-day, timed tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis at the 15th Street Kiosk beginning at 8:30 a.m. until all tickets for that day are gone.

Kennedy Center: The Kennedy Center is located at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue, NW and Rock Creek Parkway. Free, unreserved tours of the center are given Monday thru Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Tours depart from the Parking Plaza on Level A. U.S. Botanic Garden: One of the best-kept secrets of DC is the U.S. Botanic Garden, open daily from 10:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. (and it's free). It is located just south of the Capitol Building at 100 Maryland Avenue, SW. Please visit www.usbg.gov for more information.

FBI Building: The FBI Building in Washington, DC is currently closed to the public. No tours of any kind are permitted. Visit www.fbi.gov for additional information.

Voice of America: The Voice of America, which first went on the air in 1942, is a multimedia international broadcasting service funded by the U.S. government through the Broadcasting Board of Governors. VOA broadcasts more than 1,000 hours of news, information, educational, and cultural programming every week to an estimated worldwide audience of more than 115 million people. Programs are produced in 45 languages. Tours of the Voice of America facility, located at 330 Independence Ave., S.W. in Washington, D.C., are held Monday-Friday at 12:00pm and 3:00pm, excluding Federal holidays. Tours are free; plan to arrive ten minutes prior to your tour. National Guard Memorial Museum:  Located in the National Guard Memorial Building in downtown Washington, DC, the museum is open Monday-Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, excluding holidays, and by appointment.  The museum tracks the developement and contributions of the National Guard from colonial times to the present day.  Admission is free.  Further details are available by calling (888) 226-4287 or by visiting http://www.ngef.org/tier.asp?sid=2.

The Pentagon: Due to security requirements, all requests for Pentagon tours must be submitted through a U.S. House or Senate office. Additionally, reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance. A complete description of the tour request process is available at http://pentagon.afis.osd.mil/tour_selection.cfm. Crime and Punishment:  It’s so much fun- it’s a crime!  The Crime and Punishment Museum, located at 575 7th St. NW, near Gallery Place Chinatown metro stop, is a “must see for CSI fans,” said Good Morning America.  The museum includes a crime lab and the filming studios for America’s Most Wanted.  The Museum has three floors, covers 25,000 Sq. Ft. and contains more than 100 interactive exhibits including: a simulated shooting range, high-speed and police-chase.  The museums hours are approximately 10am-7pm, Mon-Sun.
