Statement by Congressman Cicilline on Hanukkah

Dec 8, 2012

PAWTUCKET – U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) issued the following statement today marking the first night of Hanukkah:

"Tonight, Rhode Island's Jewish community observes the first night of Hanukkah - a time when loved ones come together each year to commemorate the story of the Maccabees and recognize the incredible resilience of the human spirit. I am personally looking forward to spending time with family and reflecting on the past year."

"And as we celebrate the Festival of Lights, I am especially proud of the sense of unity and purpose that has been shared across our state by men and women of every faith. Whether confronted by a powerful hurricane or a difficult economy, Rhode Islanders have never lost sight of the fact that we're all in this together."

"I wish everyone celebrating tonight a very Happy Hanukkah."
