Passport Assistance

As a result of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (IRTPA), the Department of Homeland Security and Department of State implemented the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), which requires all travelers including U.S. citizens and foreign nationals to present a passport, or other secure document or combination of documents that denote identity and citizenship when entering or re-entering the United States. The goal of WHTI is to strengthen border security and facilitate entry into the United States for U.S. citizens and legitimate international travelers.
