Congressman Cantor Highlights Marine Corps Strength In Innovation

QUANTICO, VA – Today, Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) and State Senator Bryce Reeves visited Marine Corps Base Quantico for a demonstration on innovations from the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) and the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program (JNLWP):

Regarding the visit Congressman Cantor said, “The Marine Corps is on the frontlines of innovation. Through research and development, the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory and Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program are producing solutions to current challenges and preparing for future threats. Today, I saw firsthand the advanced technologies and weaponry that will save lives and protect our troops. It was amazing to see the depth of knowledge and testing being put into these efforts. Visits like these serve as a constant reminder of how grateful we are to the men and women of our Marines Corps for the important work they do to defend our national security.”

Brigadier General Mark Wise, Commanding General of the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory said, “The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory is a leader in providing cutting-edge solutions to enable the future warfighter. We were honored to have Congressman Cantor visit us for a firsthand look at some of these technologies that will make our Marines more lethal, more survivable, and continue the Marine Corps' role as America's crisis response force.”

Susan LeVine, Principal Deputy Director for Joint Non-Lethal Weapons added, "The Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program’s ongoing engagement with Congress helps ensure legislators have accurate information about current and future DoD technologies. We were very pleased to brief Congressman Cantor and Senator Reeves on the forward-thinking of the military and the challenges we face. Non-lethal weapons play a critical role in minimizing casualties and collateral damage. These non-lethal technologies are essential in the complex missions our service members face, most notably counterinsurgency and counterterrorism missions.”
