U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke Selected as New York State’s Representative on the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee

BROOKLYN, NY – Representative Yvette D. Clarke was chosen by her colleagues to become New York State’s official representative on the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.

In her position as a member of the committee, Representative Clarke will present official nominations for House Committee assignments and policy recommendations for the 113th Congress, which will convene on January 3, 2013. Representative Clarke will represent the interests of the people of New York State and its twenty-one Democratic members of Congress.

“I am honored to have been selected by my colleagues for this position,” said Representative Clarke. “I believe there are excellent opportunities in the 113th as Congress works with President Obama to develop policies that will support the families of New York State.”

Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut serves as Chairwoman for Steering and Representative Rob Andrews of New Jersey serves as Chairman for Policy on the committee, which presents committee assignments for Democratic members and policy recommendations to the leaders of the Democratic Party.

In addition to her position on the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, Representative Clarke was also selected as Second Vice-Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus for the 113th Congress.

U.S. Representative Yvette D. Clarke is a member of the House Small Business Committee and the Homeland Security Committee, where she is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies.  She represents several neighborhoods in central Brooklyn, NY.
