Congressman Canseco’s Statement on October Jobs Report

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco (TX-23) released a statement on the October jobs report, which stated that the economy added 171,000 jobs and the unemployment rate rose to 7.9%.

"Unfortunately, unemployment increased once again and the American people are left to ask why. Despite President Obama’s economic policies of attempting to spend, tax, and regulate our way to economic prosperity, four years later 23 million Americans are still struggling to find work and the unemployment rate has not dipped below where it stood the day he took office.  Instead of jobs and a growing economy, all the American people have to show for President Obama’s failed economic policies are trillions of dollars in new spending and debt, a government takeover of healthcare via Obamacare, higher taxes, and an economy hovering in near stall mode.  While President Obama will try to insist that today’s report is indicative that our economy is heading in the right direction, he can’t see the forest for the trees when it comes to the American economy and job creation."
