Congressman Canseco Receives NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco (TX-23) was honored by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Guardian of Small Business Award for his small business voting record during the 112th Congress.

“As a former small business owner, I understand what makes a small business thrive and what threatens its survival.  President Obama’s failed economic policies of more spending, more regulations, and more taxes have created a climate of uncertainty that does not support the growth and success of our nation’s job creators.  Since coming to Congress, I’ve consistently voted to keep taxes low, rein in out-of-control federal spending, repeal burdensome regulations, and to repeal Obamacare.   I’m honored to receive the Guardian of Small Business Award in recognition for my work to get Washington out of the way and unleash our nation’s small businesses to create jobs.”

The Guardian of Small Business Award is given by NFIB to lawmakers who vote with small business 70% or more of the time. Votes considered “pro-small business” include Repealing the Health Care Law (H.R. 2); Farm Dust Regulations Prevention Act (H.R. 1633) and the Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act (H.R. 8), to name a few.

NFIB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan small business association founded in 1943 to represent small and independent business consensus views in Washington and all 50 state capitals.
