Floridians are concerned about the direction Washington is taking our country by piling up debt, pushing for increased taxes and advocating anti-growth policies that will harm our economy. Floridians want a government that makes it easier for employers to create jobs, and provides certainty in its tax policies. It is high time to cut spending and take on our debt crisis in order to ensure a pro-growth economic environment.

To create the environment for businesses all across Florida and our nation to create jobs, Senator Rubio believes we need to permanently extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts that will sunset in two years, cut corporate taxes, permanently end the Death Tax, end double taxation, reform the Alternative Minimum Tax and ensure that we do not pass a value-added tax. These pro-growth tax measures will spur job creation and build a more competitive economic environment to attract businesses across the world.

Senator Rubio will also work to repeal and replace ObamaCare. In January 2011, Senator Rubio signed on as an original co-sponsor of legislation introduced by U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) to fully repeal the health care bill that President Obama signed into law on March 23, 2010. The legislation is identical to the repeal bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives. Senator Rubio is one of 34 Republicans co-sponsoring the bill. This is the first bill Senator Rubio has co-sponsored.

Senator Rubio opposes Democrat efforts to pass a cap-and-trade plan that will substantially raise energy costs and result in countless job losses. Furthermore, Senator Rubio opposes efforts to strip away workers’ rights to a secret ballot, will work to halt regulations that are hurting job creation, and supports free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea that will promote economic and job growth.

For the 112th Congress, Senator Rubio sits on the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation that has jurisdiction over communications, highways, aviation, rail, shipping, transportation security, merchant marine, the Coast Guard, oceans, fisheries, disasters, science, space, interstate commerce, tourism, consumer issues, economic development, export promotion, technology, competitiveness, product safety, and insurance. He also serves on the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship that oversees all legislation and issues relating to the Small Business Administration (SBA), as well as studying issues affecting the function of American small business enterprises.
