Hoyer: Congress Should Act Quickly to Provide Aid to Areas Affected by Hurricane Sandy

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the Obama Administration request to Congress for supplemental disaster aid for areas affected by Hurricane Sandy:

“For residents of areas affected by Hurricane Sandy, additional assistance to continue recovery efforts cannot come soon enough. The emergency aid package requested today by the Obama Administration will help communities in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and neighboring states get back on their feet.

“Yesterday I traveled to New York and saw firsthand some of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. I also saw the determination of residents to rebuild their homes, restore their communities, and move forward. I am committed to working with the Obama Administration and Congressional leaders so we can provide these hard-hit areas with additional federal assistance without delay.”
