Government Accountability & Transparency
One of the three main themes of my campaign for Senate was the principle that our government should be open, honest and responsive to the people it serves. In the Senate, I have worked to advocate policies that open the doors of Congress and government to the American people.

I am pleased that since joining the Senate, we have been able to enact the most sweeping ethical reforms since Watergate. And, through a number of measures that I’ve introduced—including the successful Commission on Wartime Contracting—we have been able to put controls in place to assure vigorous oversight and restore greater accountability to the federal government. My staff and I continue to focus on identifying inefficiencies and potential abuses in federal spending so that we are delivering the best return on American taxpayer’s investment.
