  • Sen. Stabenow Statement Following the Passage of Right-to-Work Legislation in the Michigan Legislature

"As Michigan's economy is recovering, we need to work together to build a stronger economy, not tear our state apart with divisive political issues. By passing this so-called ‘right to work' bill, Michigan is taking a major step backward. It will mean lower wages and fewer benefits for every worker, and a poisoned political environment. That is why I have repeatedly urged Governor Snyder to veto these bills. If they become law, it will be a sad day in Michigan's long history of labor and business working together to create jobs and build a strong middle class."

  • Sen. Stabenow Statement Following the Introduction of Right-to-Work Legislation in the Michigan Legislature

"Michigan has a proud history of labor and business working together to create jobs and provide a better standard of living for middle-class families. I strongly oppose this partisan push to pass 'right-to-work' legislation. Workers need to have confidence that they have a voice in the workplace, and this proposal silences that voice.  I am deeply concerned about the impact of this incredibly divisive action on our state's economy at a time when we need everyone working together to solve problems and move our state forward.  This is a sad moment in Michigan's history and a serious step backward for our state."
