Senator Rockefeller has the privilege of nominating outstanding West Virginia students for admission to the nation's service academies. The service academies offer a fine education and excellent career opportunities.

Senator Rockefeller's selections are based on applicants' ACT or SAT scores, leadership ability, physical aptitude, high school academic achievements, medical fitness, and personal goals and motivation.

To notify Senator Rockefeller of your interest in applying for an academy nomination and to initiate a personal file, please print out an application form and submit it to his Charleston office. In addition to the application form, you will also need to submit a copy of your most recent high school transcript, certified ACT or SAT scores and three letters of recommendation, no later than November 1 of the year preceding your anticipated enrollment in the academy.

Senator Rockefeller is allowed to nominate 10 candidates for each open slot at the academies. Each nominee will be considered for an appointment, with the academy making the final selections for appointment offers. The law requires that all of his nominees have a bona fide residence in West Virginia. If your parents currently serve in the military, you will be eligible for one of my nominations only if your "home of record" is West Virginia.

If you have not done so already, you should contact each academy you may be interested in to request their catalog and pre-candidate form. It's important that you complete pre-candidate forms for each academy that interests you.
