Order a Flag

My office can arrange for Massachusetts residents to purchase an American flag that has flown over the Capitol. This service is not provided at taxpayer expense. Rather, the person making the request is asked to pay a small fee to cover the cost of the flag and processing expenses.

John Kerry website. Woman holding a US flag It is a great honor to fly a flag that has flown over the Capitol. Organizations and individuals request such a flag for many purposes, such as presiding over a ceremony, flying over a building (such as a school), or giving as a present to a loved one, often a veteran. All flags are made in the United States.

When requesting a flag, you may specify the date on which it should be flown, and whether it is to honor a person or group or to commemorate an event. You may also specify that the flag you receive be flown during specific functions, such as those involving military ceremonies, visits from heads of state, presidential addresses, or joint sessions of Congress. All these details will be documented by the Capitol Flag Office in the official certificate of authenticity that comes with every flag.

To request a flag, you may call my office in Washington, or fill out the form below, print it out, and send it in. We'll process your request and contact you about delivery.
