Constituent Tour Requests

Congressional tours of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Capitol Building, Kennedy Center and the White House are available to the general public, free of charge. As a member of Congress, I am able to request these tours and schedule them on your behalf. With the exception of the White House, however, tours may also be scheduled on your own using the venue websites. The necessary links for further information can be found below.

I can also provide you with a Gallery pass to view the Senate in session. Please indicate this on your tour request form.

Congressional tours are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis; therefore, I suggest that you contact my staff with the requested information as soon as your travel plans have been finalized. Congressional tours can be filled up as early as three months prior to the tour date.

Please complete your tour request form online using the link, “Online Tour Request Form.” This is the most immediate way to receive a response. If you prefer, you are welcome to print a copy of the form, complete the necessary information, and send it to my Honolulu, Hilo, or D.C. offices. Fax numbers for these offices can be found at the bottom of any page on my website. Please keep in mind that requests mailed to my Washington, D.C., office will be screened off-site, due to security reasons, which can delay receipt of your request by 3-4 weeks.

Congressional offices may submit tour requests to the White House up to six months in advance, and the White House will not accept tour requests later than 35 days prior to the requested tour date. White House tours fill up quickly, and are on a first come, first served basis. It is highly recommended that requests be submitted six months in advance, as there are a limited number of spaces available. Please include your email address on your tour request form, so a White House security form may be provided to you. The White House requests security information for every visitor that wishes to tour the White House. Please note that Congressional offices are only able to request tours from the White House, and have no part in the decision to grant or deny tour requests. Sometimes the White House may not inform us of the status of the requested tour until two weeks prior to the tour date. White House tours are self guided.

On September 4, 2009, President Obama announced that visitor access records to the White House Complex will be made publicly available 90-120 days after the date of visit. This policy includes all guests touring the White House. Please be aware that your full name and the date of your visit will be part of the publicly released records. Your date of birth, Social Security Number and other personal information provided will not be released.

All tours are significantly enhanced if visitors stop by the White House Visitor Center located at the southeast corner of 15th and E Streets, before or after their tour. The Center is open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and features many aspects of the White House, including its architecture, furnishings, first families, social events, and relations with the press and world leaders, as well as a thirty-minute video. Allow between 20 minutes to one hour to explore the exhibits. The White House Historical Association also sponsors a sales area. Please note that restrooms are available, but food service is not.
