Republicans filibuster their proposal to vote on debt limit–cloture filed on MTP to TAG bill-caucus cancelled–no more votes

Senator Reid asked unanimous consent that at 1:30pm today, the Senate proceed to the consideration of S.3664, which is regarding the debt limit increases, that there be no amendments in order to the bill, there be up to 10 minutes of debate equally divided between the two Leaders or their designees, and that upon the use or yielding back of time, the Senate proceed to vote on passage of the bill.

Senator McConnell asked Senator Reid to modify his request so that the bill would be subject to a 60 vote threshold. Senator Reid declined to modify his request and McConnell objected to the request to vote on the debt limit bill.

Senator Reid then moved to proceed to Calendar #554, S.3637, a bill to temporarily extend the transaction account guarantee program (TAG) and filed cloture on the motion to proceed.

The 1pm caucus has  been cancelled. There will be no further roll call votes during today’s session of the Senate.
