Tours

Washington, D.C. is an exciting city to visit, with many interesting places to tour. My office can schedule tours of the U.S. Capitol and limited tours of the White House.

Constituent Meet-and-Greet
Every Thursday that the Senate is in session, I host a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in the U.S. Capitol to welcome Nevadans to Washington, D.C. I have been enjoying these “Welcome to Washington” gatherings since being elected to Congress in 1982. This meet-and-greet gives me the opportunity to talk and get to know my fellow Nevadans. A Senate photographer will be there for any Nevadan that would like a photo to commemorate their visit to the Capitol..

Capitol Tours
The United States Capitol Building is a monument, a working office building, and one of the most recognizable symbols of representative democracy in the world. Visitors are welcomed to enter the building through the Capitol Visitor Center, located underground on the east side of the Capitol. You can begin your Capitol experience at the Visitor Center by visiting the Exhibition Hall, perusing the gift shops or dining in the restaurant. For a guided Capitol tour from staff in my office, please fill out the form below or contact my Washington, D.C. office at 202-224-3542. We can accommodate Capitol tour requests from Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All Capitol Tours are approximately one hour.

Please know that my staff and I will do our best to accommodate your needs. Tours may not be available for the dates requested. We will notify you whether or not we are able to fulfill your request.

White House Tours
The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States, recognized worldwide as a symbol of the prestige of the presidency. Built between 1792 and 1800, the sprawling 132-room mansion has been used as a home by every President since John Adams. The East Wing of the White House principally serves as offices for the First Lady and her staff. The First Family's quarters, located on the second and third floor of the historic White House, provide them with privacy and comfort away from the public spotlight. The West Wing is home to the President's office and those of his top staff. Public tours of the White House are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Requests can be submitted up to six months in advance and no less than 30 days in advance. You are encouraged to submit your request as early as possible as a limited number of spaces are available.

These self-guided tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fridays, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays (excluding federal holidays or unless otherwise noted). Tour hours will be extended when possible based on the official White House schedule.

All White House tours are free of charge. (Please note that White House tours may be subject to last minute cancellation.) The White House now makes public the names of visitors and the dates they toured the Whitehouse 30-90 days after their visit.
