Services for Nevadans

Responding to the needs of Nevadans has always been my top priority.  As your United States Senator, I may be able to help you interact with various federal agencies.  My office can provide for a wide range of constituent services.  Whether you are planning a trip to our Nation’s Capitol, considering applying to a service academy, or are in need of assistance when dealing with various federal agencies, my office stands ready to assist you.

Academy Nominations

I take great pride in the opportunity to nominate young men and women as candidates to the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, and West Point.  Nominations are not needed to go the Coast Guard Academy; however, my academy coordinators would be happy to assist you with any information you may need.  For more information on academy nominations, please click here.

Business Resources

During my time in Congress, I have been a strong supporter of small businesses because they play a vital role in the economy by spurring innovation, job creation, and competition.  I will continue to support small businesses because the economic recovery of Nevada and our nation depends on their success.  I encourage you to utilize the resources on this page and wish you the best of luck in your ventures.

Casework

As a United States Senator, one of my most important responsibilities is to help Nevadans with questions or concerns involving federal agencies.  Having a problem with the federal government can be very frustrating.  However, I have qualified caseworkers in my state offices to assist you in these situations and provide guidance and answers.  Click here to determine if my office is the best place to direct your inquiry.

Flag Requests

I am pleased to inform you that my office accepts flag requests to have an American flag flown over the United States Capitol for Nevadans.  Click here to order an American flag.

Getting Grants

My staff and the Congressional Research Service for Members of Congress have prepared this webpage to give you guidance and resources on Federal grants and nonfinancial assistance, as well as on private foundation funding.

Internships

If you would like to be considered for an internship in one of my offices, please click here for more information and to apply. Students and recent graduates of Southern Nevada institutions of higher education are also invited to apply for the Larry Bolden Memorial Internship.

Nevada 2-1-1

2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember telephone number that connects Nevada callers to free information about critical health and human services available in their community.  Every hour of every day, someone in the Nevada needs essential services - from finding an after-school program to securing adequate care for a child or an aging parent.  Faced with a dramatic increase in the number of agencies and help-lines, people often don't know where to turn.  Nevada 2-1-1 helps people find the essential services they need.  Launched in February 2006 and led by State of Nevada, United Way of Southern Nevada, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, Crisis Call Center, and HELP of Southern Nevada, Nevada 2-1-1 service is currently available seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.  For more information please visit www.nevada211.org.

Page Program

The U.S. Senate Page Program exposes high school students to many interesting and challenging experiences.  For more information on the U.S. Senate Page Program, or to apply, please click here.

Retiree Benefits & Assistance Resource Guide

I believe it is helpful for all retired Nevadans to know about the government programs and benefits to which they are entitled.  This is why my office has created a Retiree Benefits and Assistance Resource Guide, which will provide you key information about important federal, state, and community-based programs.  While this Guide may not answer all your questions, it should serve as a directory to further assistance.  Click here to download a copy of the Guide, or to find out how your organization can be included in this helpful resource.

Senatorial Recognition

I enjoy hearing about special occasions and outstanding achievements of Nevadans.  Special accomplishments and events such as graduations, anniversaries, hallmark birthdays, galas, honorariums, and much more deserve special recognition.  Click here if you would like to request letters or certificates to commemorate your special occasion or to recognize the achievements of a Nevadan.

Tax Time Assistance

Need assistance with your tax return?  Puzzled by the tax law or which credits and deductions to take?   There are several programs that can help.  If your annual income is less than $58,000 you may get free help in preparing and filing your return electronically.  And if your income is less than $49,000, or if you are over the age of 60, you may qualify for help in preparing your return from volunteers.  Click here to learn more.

Tour Requests

Washington, D.C. is an exciting city to visit, with many interesting places to tour.  My office can schedule tours of the U.S. Capitol and limited tours of the White House.

Welcome to Washington

Every Thursday that the Senate is in session, I hold a constituent meet-and-greet at 8:30 a.m. in the U.S. Capitol to welcome you to Washington, D.C.  I enjoy these gatherings because they give me the chance to talk with my fellow Nevadans in a comfortable and relaxed setting.  Click here to register.

Youth Central

This section of my website is dedicated to issues concerning Nevada’s youth.  I am proud to be your voice in the Senate and I pledge to keep fighting on issues important to Nevada’s youth such as funding education, opportunities for pursuing scholarship/internship, and careers in public service.
