2012 U.S. Service Academy Information Fair

 NOMINATION PROCESS

A Congressional nomination is only part of the process.  If you have not already done so, you should contact your academy or academies of choice and request pre-candidate information as this is the first step in the admission process.

A nomination through any authority does not guarantee acceptance into a service academy.  Final acceptance into one of the U.S. Service Academies is made by the individual Academy.

Due to the limited number of openings at the Academies and the large pool of applicants who want to attend, my Academy Board will review all packets for competitive recommendation in accordance with Academies standards.
I will make the nominations to the respective Service Academies by the designated deadline of January 31.

I encourage you to also contact U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and your congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives about their nomination process.  You may find the name of your congressman at the U.S. House of Representatives' website at: www.house.gov.

APPLICATION

To apply for a nomination from my office, please print and read my Service Academy Nomination packet thoroughly.  You will find general information regarding the nomination process, as well as several forms necessary to complete your application.

Service Academy Applicant Checklist

To ensure proper completion of your file, please return the following items no later than November 15, 2012.  All information should be returned in one complete packet.

1. Competed Application Form.

2. Personal letter to Senator Paul stating why you want to attend a service academy.

3. Minimum of 3 (Maximum of 5) Letters of Recommendation required from the following sources:

a. High School Counselor or Principal

b. High School Teacher

c. Supervisor of an extra-curricular activity in or outside school

5. List of extra-curricular activities stating any offices held in or outside school.

6. Official Academic Transcript.  Please ensure that the transcript includes your current GPA and Class Rank to include total number in class.  If your school does not rank students, please have your Guidance Counselor contact my Academy Coordinator at (270) 782-8303.

7. Copies of ACT and/or SAT test scores.

Failure to complete these requirements by November 15, 2012, (with the exception of test scores) will disqualify you from further consideration.  Please be sure you are a current and legal resident of the State of Kentucky or your application will be invalid with this office and the academy.

Please send your completed Academy Nomination packet to:
