About Colorado: Southern Colorado Region
The largest city in this region is Pueblo, which boasts a diverse industrial base that includes Vestas, the Professional Bull Riders Inc., Atlas Pacific Engineering, EVRAZ Steel and TRANE. It is known for its rich culture and heritage as well as the recreational opportunities Lake Pueblo State Park and White Water Park offer for kayakers and river surfers. Those regional draws make Pueblo a hotspot for festivals like the annual Chile Festival and the Historic Arkansas River Project (HARP), which attract thousands of visitors to the area. Colorado's largest annual event, the Colorado State Fair, calls Pueblo home; in 2010, it exceeded a half-million attendees. Pueblo is also known as the "Home of Heroes" because it has more Medal of Honor recipients per capita than any other U.S. city - photos of the recipients are showcased at the Center for American Values along the HARP Riverwalk.
