Internship Opportunities

I am pleased to offer internships throughout the year in my Washington, D.C. office, as well as my Nebraska offices. The internship program provides a unique opportunity for students to experience the federal government in action. Those interested in pursuing public service or just learning more about how government works can explore the possibilities and perhaps find their passion. I've never regretted answering the call to public service and I hope to provide students with a meaningful experience that will help to guide their future pursuits.

In the Washington, D.C. office, intern responsibilities may include:

•Tracking legislation;
•Researching legislative issues;
•Attending legislative hearings;
•Guiding tours of the Capitol and Congressional buildings for constituents;
•Assisting with newspaper clippings and providing brief synopses of articles;
•Assisting with constituent phone calls, correspondence and requests; and
•Opening and sorting mail, answering phones and general administrative support.

In the Nebraska offices, intern responsibilities may include:

•Researching constituent inquires and requests;
•Assisting staff with trip preparation for Senator Johanns' Nebraska meetings;
•Assisting with constituent phone calls, correspondence and other requests;
•Providing support to staff for special projects;
•Assisting with newspaper clippings and providing brief synopses of articles; and
•Opening and sorting mail, answering phones and general administrative support.

Letters of recommendation must be sent via traditional mail to the address listed below and received within two weeks of your application following the online submission of your application.
