Patch's Story

Today, I’d like to share with you the wonderful story of Patch Angerame, a young boy from Connecticut who suffered a pediatric stroke while still in the womb. Patch’s family came to me for help increasing pediatric stroke awareness and ensuring that Patch’s treatments would be covered by their health insurance. Patch’s story, and many other pediatric stroke stories that have come to me over the last few months, inspired me to fight even harder for the pediatric stroke community. A stroke, like the one Patch experienced, is a medical emergency that can cause permanent neurologic damage or death if not promptly diagnosed and treated. I was proud to fight on behalf of Patch and his family to get his critical therapies covered, and introduce legislation to raise awareness on behalf of the children affected by this horrible condition.
