The U. S. Senate Server

The United States Senate server hosts the web sites of each individual U. S. Senator. Therefore, my privacy policy inherits the security and privacy practices of the central Senate server. For site management, the Senate server collects information for statistical purposes. The government computer system software uses programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. The following is a list of specific information that is collected when you visit any United States Senate web site:

  1. The domain from which you access the Senate web site.
  2. The date and time of your visit.
  3. The address of the web site, if any, that provide the link from which you reached the Senate site.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration guidelines.
