U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will award $1,646,000 to the University of Alabama in Huntsville Intermodal Facility for the construction of an interconnecting bike/ped route between the Intermodal Facility and the interior core campus. 

“It is critical that Alabama’s universities have strong infrastructure in place to support students, faculty and community members as well as surrounding businesses,” said Shelby.  “The University of Alabama in Huntsville will use this grant to make improvements that are essential for efficient transportation on campus.”

The bike/ped route will be composed of walkways for pedestrians, bicycle lanes, covered bicycle storage, extensive landscaping and green space, and other pedestrian use amenities.
