The historical and educational resources available to visitors in the D.C. area are quite extensive. Below I have included links to a variety of attractions within the area which may help you in planning your trip to Washington, D.C. My office staff will also provide you with information about what to see and do while you are visiting our nation's Capital. Visiting DC Links

Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington National Cemetery is open to the public at 8 a.m. 365 days a year. From April 1 to Sept. 30 the cemetery closes at 7 p.m.; the other six months it closes at 5 p.m.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing

My office can schedule a tour for Alabamians of the Bureau and Engraving and Printing. Located on Raoul Wallenberg Place and C Street SW, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prints all U.S. currency, as well as postage stamps, Treasury Bonds, and White House Invitations. Public tours can also be obtained at the Bureau itself. Please consult the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's website for further information.

Capitol Tours

Guided tours of the United States Capitol are available Monday through Saturday, from 8:50 am until 3:30 pm. Tours are free, but tour passes are required. My office is able to schedule limited staff tours.  Please contact my office for further information.

My office can also provide Alabamians with passes to the House and Senate galleries. Simply stop by my office at 304 Russell Senate Office Building and pick them up.

FDR Memorial

The public may visit the FDR Memorial 24 hours a day. However Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm daily.

Federal Bureau of Investigation

The FBI building is closed to public tours at this time.

Holocaust Museum

The museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. every day, including weekends. While passes are not needed for entering the museum building, visiting special exhibitions, the interactive Wexner Learning Center, and other museum resources, timed passes are necessary for visiting the permanent exhibition, The Holocaust. Timed passes can be obtained at the museum on the day of your visit or in advance by calling 1-877-80-USHMM or visiting https://tix.cnptix.com/tix/ushmm?eventid=21322. The museum distributes passes on a first come first served basis, but a limited number of timed entry passes are available each day.

Kennedy Center

Free tours of the Kennedy Center are given by the Friends of the Kennedy Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. They depart from the parking plaza on Level A, and feature the Hall of States and Hall of Nations, the Center's main theaters, and dozens of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks given to the Center by foreign countries. Library of Congress

Public tours are offered at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Great Hall of the Thomas Jefferson Building. Saturday public tours are offered at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

Lincoln Memorial

The public may visit the Lincoln Memorial 24 hours a day. However Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm daily.

National Archives

The National Archives Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Labor Day to March 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from April 1 to the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Admission is free.

Pentagon

Due to increased security regulations, only groups from government agencies, educational institutions, or military units consisting of 5 or more people may tour the Pentagon. Such groups should read the tour guidelines and security information and then request a tour.

Smithsonian Institutions

Admission to 14 Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., is free. The Washignton Area Smithsonians include: the Smithsonian Institution Building (The Castle), Arts and Industries Building, Cooper-Hewitt, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of African Art, National Museum of American Art, National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History, National Portrait Gallery, National Postal Museum, National Zoological Park, and the Renwick Gallery of the National Museum of American Art. United States Supreme Court

1st St. & Maryland Ave., NE; Washington , DC 20543; Phone: (202) 479-3211 The Supreme Court offers a variety of educational programs. Exhibits, which are changed periodically, and a theater, where a film on the Supreme Court is shown, are located on the ground floor. Lectures in the Courtroom are given every hour on the half-hour, on days that the Court is not sitting.

The building is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. Admission: Free.

The White House

My office is able to set up White House tours for constituents from Alabama. Due to the extremely high demand and limited tours offered by the White House Visitors Office, tours must be requested no less than 30 days in advance or no more than 6 months in advance. All tour requesters are required to complete a Tour Request Form.  Upon completion of the form, my Tour Coordinator will contact requesters for additional information.  Please be prepared to supply the following information for each person on the tour:
