Hastings Selected as Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 28, 2012 - House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) released the following statement after the Republican Conference selected him to serve as Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee in the 113th Congress:

“I’m honored to have been selected by my Republican Colleagues to continue to serve as Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee. In this position, I’ll continue to pursue an active, aggressive agenda focused on the common sense protection and responsible harnessing of our Nation’s natural resources.

“This Committee has the unique opportunity to help address some of the significant concerns facing our country. By protecting and unlocking access to our public lands and resources, we can keep and create jobs here in America, create new sources of revenue and protect the livelihoods of millions of Americans. We’ll continue to advance policies that boost offshore and onshore energy production; promote a balanced, multi-use approach to public land management; protect hydropower; expand water storage and supplies; encourage economic growth on tribal lands; protect wildlife and cut government red tape.

“The Committee’s oversight responsibilities will continue to be a top priority next Congress and will become increasingly important as the Obama Administration moves to finalize and impose an array of new regulations impacting everything from oceans, to coal production, to electricity rates. We’ll hold the Obama Administration accountable to the American people for policies that will cost American jobs and increase spending.”
