October 8, 2012
CONCORD, NH – U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Congressmen Charles F. Bass (R-NH-02) and Frank Guinta (R-NH-01) honored members of New Hampshire's law enforcement community at a ceremony in Concord on Monday for exemplary service to law enforcement.
"Every day, we are reminded of the incredible risks and sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel to keep our communities safe. These heroes deserve our thanks and appreciation for their dedicated service to our state," said Shaheen, Ayotte, Bass, and Guinta. "We are truly honored to stand with the citizens of New Hampshire and recognize these officers today for their outstanding efforts."
The New Hampshire Congressional Law Enforcement Awards were started in 1998 by Bass and former Congressman John E. Sununu. All New Hampshire law enforcement officers – whether they are serving full- or part-time – are eligible to be nominated for recognition from the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation. Awardees are selected by an independent committee of law enforcement officers comprised of current and retired federal, state, county, and local officials.
