WASHINGTON – Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) supported a full repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act today during a vote in the House of Representatives. The measure (H.R. 6079) passed by a vote of 244 to 185.

Bass said:

"Today's repeal vote reflects the mood of the majority of Americans who do not support a law that is already increasing the cost of health care and will insert bureaucrats in the health care decisions best left to individuals and their doctors.

"Over the last two years, we have seen the disastrous effects that the law has had on our economy and the health care choices available to individuals and their families as a result of higher taxes, increased costs, and cuts to Medicare. Our health care system wasn't perfect before this law was enacted, but there is no question the Affordable Care Act will only make things worse.

"I believe we can find common ground on patient- and market-based reforms that improve affordability, quality, and accessibility for all Americans. Repealing this flawed law is the first step in that process."
